My Favourite Films of All Time: 40-31

40. Back To The Future
Possibly the most fun film ever made, this classic is entertainment with a capital E.

39. Vertigo
This film is a film that grew on me over time. At first, I loved it, but I didn't see it as the classic that everyone put it out to be. However, after a while, I managed to see the true brilliance in it, earning itself a spot.

38. Raiders of the Lost Ark
This was my favourite film as a 12, and I would give anything to see it in the cinema. The pinnacle of the adventure film genre.

37. Rashomon
The first Akira Kurosawa film I ever saw really is a piece of absolute genius.

36. Reservoir Dogs
Tarantino's debut is perhaps the best example of a debut film ever. It really showed the world from the get go the genius of Tarantino.

35. Seven Samurai
I stayed up till 2am to watch this on TV, and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. This is such an epic piece of cinema, and if you haven't seen it, you're missing out on a fantastic experience.

34. Rear Window
Hitchcock's 1954 film remains his most instantly likable and entertaining.

 33. Schindler's List
The film that is frequently recognised as Spielberg's masterpiece has one of the most tear jerking endings in history. And it's a freaking brilliant film too.

32. American Beauty
This is one of the best contemporary modern American films ever made, with one of the best screenplays ever written. Plastics.

31. Se7en
Yeah David Fincher did Alien 3 before this. So what? Look at all the brilliant stuff he's done since, this stylish psychological thriller being one of the best examples. This is the film that positioned Fincher as a dynamic force to be reckoned with.

  1. Many of these would be in my top 10. Nice job. However, I've never quite understood what is so mind-blowing about Se7en.
